006 Strict canon doesn't exist here. I have nothing against people who do adhere strictly to canon. I simply don't because I don't find it fun. All characters will be as close to how they are in canon, personality wise, but I have developed things to make them my own in some way, shape, or form. I'm always down for an AU or to find ways to put them in new and different situations. Some characters I've been writing on and off for years and that development will be clear in my writing and how I approach the characters. 007 Don't rush me. I take things at my own pace. If you haven't received a reply within two weeks and I haven't spoken to you or stated anything publicly, then you can give me a nudge and ask. Angel Dresden is a former Army Ranger who was sabatoged by her own teammates and COs and led into what was supposed to be a suicide mission and left for dead. Unfortunately for them, she survived and the Army quietly offered her a deal: willingly accept a discharge due to injuries sustained while on the job or be dishonorably discharged and discredited. She chose the first option. Shortly afterwards, her mother died in a car crash. Following small breadcrumbs that her mom told her about her bio father over the years, she eventually found her way to Hope County, Montana and Eden's Gate to meet her father, John Seed for the first time.

HISTORY
Angel's start in life was not the most "traditional." Her mother, Louanne, dated a guy named John Duncan for a few months when they were both 18 and were about to enter college. Things were good at first, then something about John ( and the Duncans ) began rubbing Louanne the wrong way. After a particularly nasty argument that involved a spectacular display of temper from John, Louanne broke up with him.Shortly after, she found out that she was pregnant. Her parents, Victor and Clara, saw how fearful Louanne was at the thought of John knowing and made the decision to send her to family in California for a little while. Angel was born in October of that year and was the perfect baby in Louanne's eyes.There were warning signs early on that something wasn't quite right with Angel. She had issues with emotional regulation, would sometimes fly off the handle or get easily frustrated at small things. Louanne quickly put Angel in various therapies, wanting her to learn how to manage whatever issues that she may have inherited from John.
Due to the Dresdens being a richer and more privaleged family than most, Angel's childhood was kept busy. While Louanne never really bought materialistic things that Angel wanted without a good reason ( good grades, winning a contest / tournament, etc. ), she had no issue putting money towards experiences and hobbies.Angel was kept incredibly busy growing up, both as a way for her to grow and learn and to keep her busy. Louanne realized early on that the busier she was and the more structure she had, the lower the chance that Angel had of having an "episode."She particularly enjoyed anything sports related. Archery, martial arts, shooting, various dance classes, etc. She excelled at those and put forth the most effort when both her mind and body were engaged. Louanne was her biggest supporter, putting her daughter's needs and desires before her own, but also teaching her kindness, discipline, and virtue without spoiling her.
Angel enrolled in the Army at the age of seventeen after covincing Louanne to sign off of on it. Her mom was understandably hesitant, but Victor encouraged her saying that being in the Army at Angel's age was the best thing that he could have done for himself. So, between Angel's begging and a conversation with her dad, Louanne relented despite her worries.Due to her great grades, Angel was given the opportunity to graduate early. She excitedly took it, not caring about the pomp and ceremony of things like prom and graduation. Louanne was sad, but understood since those kind of events tended to carry a high risk of causing Angel to spiral into an episode. She was able to go to basic training a few months later and wound up being the top ranked soldier.She soon put in for Ranger training after graduation. Her superiors were reluctant since it was almost impossible for a woman to become a Ranger, but in the next year and a half, her talent and skills showed that she was a strong contender. Plus, her talent as a sniper made her even more desirable. So they allowed it and hoped for the best.
Ranger school was the biggest challenge that Angel had ever faced. She genuinely struggled, but refused to give up. They called her weak, pathetic, said that a woman didn't have what it takes to be a Ranger, that she would just be a DEI hire. She ignored them, pushing forward even when everything in her body was screaming at her to give up.She finally managed to make it through, surpassing all expectations and excelling in her final tests. It both pleased and angered a whole lot of people who felt that women didn't belong in the military, let alone the Rangers. However, they still assigned her to a squad and she was given her assignments.Even as a Ranger, Angel found herself constantly in a state of fight or flight with her fellow squad members. It honestly shouldn't have surprised her when the orders came in for a mission that looked really strange, even on the surface. Still, since no one else questioned it, she didn't either. Big. Mistake. A lot of what happened has been blacked out of her memory due to the severe trauma of it all, but she knew one thing: they had set her up to die.
Angel tried to bring it up to her Commanding Officer's superiors only to be met with an ultimatium: she could be quietly discharged from the Army with the excuse of her injuries and trauma making her unfit for duty or she could keep trying to make a fuss and the Army would slap her with a dishonorable discharge, openly discredit her and everything that she says, and essentially make it impossible for her to find a proper job. She chose the first option and went home, feeling broken and lost.Louanne welcomed her with open arms and did everything that she could to comfort Angel. But Angel just felt hollow and lost, like a weapon that had been honed for war and then yanked away and told to go be normal again. She found it almost impossible to function after that.Louanne, Victor, and Clara all died unexpectedly in a car crash and Angel's entire world shattered. That was her entire family, gone in one fell swoop. A single cruel twist of fate left her completely alone in a world that was becoming increasingly hostile.
Angel, now desperate in her loneliness, began doing research on her mom's past and the man that her mom mentioned was her biological father. She found a picture of her and him together with the date it was taken on the back, the location, and his name: John Duncan. She latched onto the name and dug around until she came up with a new name: John Seed.The name John Seed opened so many avenues and made him incredibly easy to find. Apparently, Eden's Gate had finally selectively moved into the 21st century. They had a youtube channel filled with Joseph's preachings, videos preparing people for a thing called "The Collapse," and a lot of videos that were carefully disguised propaganda and recruiting tools, led by John himself. With all of this information, Angel packed her bags and made her way to Hope County, Montana.She was around for about three weeks, spending a lot of time in Fall's End and doing on the ground research about Eden's Gate. Eventually, the opportunity arose and she made her way to a public event that they were putting on and met up with Joseph. It didn't take the Seeds long to verify her claims and, with Joseph's very excited and delighted approval, she became a member of Eden's Gate.
